Humor provides a non-threatening way for an employee or employer to communicate with each other.Consider the secretary who posts the sign "I have only two speeds. If this one isn't fast enough, you're not going to like my other one." Or the somewhat scattered boss whose messy desk has the sign, "A Creative Mess is Better than Tidy Idleness." The message is clear, yet the communication is done in a light and, therefore, less stressful way.The secretary's sign makes fun at the situation, and the boss's note makes fun at himself.
Humor can also facilitate staff connection and a sense of team effort in the workplace.Bulletin boards, electronic mail, office memos, and voicemail are all mediums through which we can share humor with co-workers.Office jokes that take the seriousness of work lightly give us the opportunity to become more connected with others.
Work is often associated with stress, and stress is one of the main causes of illness and employee burnout.Humor helps relieve stress because it makes us feel good, and we can't feel good and feel stressed at the same time.At the moment we experience humor, feelings like depression, anger, and anxiety dissolve. When we laugh we feel physically better, and after laughter we feel happier and more relaxed. In addition, humor helps reduce psychological stress.
Humor wakes us up and increases our attention. An office bulletin board full of cartoons, jokes, and funny pictures is one way to invite humor into the workplace.A few moments of humor at work can lead to increased productivity. In working environments where humor is supported, a culture develops that uses humor to reduce stress.Learning to laugh at ourselves and our work lightens the workload.

听力原文: The private motor vehicle has given us a freedom our ancestors could not dream about. We can travel swiftly, and usually safely, over the roads which have been built to accommodate our cars. People can display their wealth by driving a car which may cost as much as another person's home.
(29) Sadly the car has become a disadvantage as well as a boon. The car pollutes the atmosphere, may be involved in serious accidents, and by its very numbers blocks roads. (29) How can we reduce its use? The car is only desirable if we can use it easily, so we might begin by reducing access to parking spaces in the cities and simultaneously increasing the quality and availability of public transport. Cars could be banned from certain parts of the city, thus forcing people to walk or to use public transport. The expense of buying and running a car can be raised. (30) If the motorist is faced with a high purchase price, high road tax, high insurance premiums and substantial fines he or she may reconsider the purchase. A corresponding reduction in the price of public transport would help this financial argument against car ownership.
Neither of these arguments will sway the super rich who can afford the status cars, but it would perhaps encourage them to look at other ways of demon-strafing their wealth. (31) However we do it, reducing the number of cars on the road will reduce the problems of pollution and the congestion which can bring cities to a standstill.
29. What does the speaker focus on?
30.What factor might hinder most people's consideration of purchasing private cars?
31.What would be the result if the number of private cars is reduced?
(4)
A.The sadness of being involved in accidents.
B.Ways to limit the use of private cars.
C.The serious pollution on motor roads.
D.Freedom to travel quickly and safely.

Does this sound familiar? You have probably read something like it in magazines or books, or seen it in a film. Why is it so popular? One of the reasons is that it reflects the fears of many people; fear of the unknown fear of what is not understood or, at least, fear of something that is not completely understood.
The fact is that every day it seems that computers take control of another area of our lives. Some
factory jobs are now done by robots and the robots are controlled by computers. Our bank accounts are managed by computers. At the airport, our tickets are sold by a computer. Certainly, many of these operations are made more
efficient by computers, but our admiration is sometimes mixed with unsafe feelings. And this lack of safety is caused by the fact that we do not know how computers do these things, and we really don't know what they might do next. But we can find out how computers work, and once we understand them, we can use computers instead of worrying about being used by them. Today, there is a new generation of computer wizards who know exactly how computers get things done. These young men and women, usually university students, are happy to sit for hours, sometimes for days, designing programs, not eating, not sleeping, but discovering what can be done by these wonderful slaves which they have learned to control. These computer wizards have learned to use the computer and search for new tasks for their machines.

Culture shock is an occupational disease (职业病) for people who have been suddenly transplanted abroad.
Culture shock is caused by the anxiety that results from losing all familiar signs and symbols of social intercourse. Those signs are as following: How to shake hands and what to say when meeting people, when and how to give tips, how to make purchases, when to accept and refuse invitations, when to take statements seriously and when not. These signs, which may be words, gestures, facial expressions, or customs, are acquired by all of us in the course of growing up and as much a part of our culture as the language we speak or the beliefs we accept. All of us depend on hundreds of these signs for the peace of our mind and day-to-day efficiency, but we do not carry most at the level of conscious awareness.
Now when an individual enters a strange culture, all or most of these familiar signs are removed. No matter how broadminded or full of good will you may be, a series of supports have been knocked from under you, followed by a feeling of frustration. When suffering from culture shock people first reject the environment which causes discomfort. The ways of the host country are bad Because they make us feel bad. When foreigners on a strange land get together to complain about the host country and its people, you can be sure that they are suffering from culture shock.
