The course is divided up into two parts: class time for learning laws and regulations and driving time to practice driving. Each student is required to drive a total of six hours. The students are divided up into groups of four. The students and the instructor go out driving for two hour blocks of time. Thus, each student gets half an hour driving time per outing. Drivers Ed cars are unlike other cars in which they have two sets of brakes, one on the driver's side and one on the other side where the instructor sits. Thus, if the student driver should run into difficulties the instructor can take over.
After a student has passed the driver's education course and reached the appropriate age to drive (this age differs in every state but in most cases the person must be 16 years old), he must take his driver's test. The person must pass all three tests in order to be given a driver's license. If the person does well in his or her driver's education class, he or she will pass the test with flying colors and get a driver's license.
In America, the driver's course mentioned above______.
A.is considered as part of the advanced education
B.is given to anyone wanting to get a driver's license
C.is carried on after students graduate from high school
D.is offered to all the students of Grade 2 in high school

Transport can be a major expense for many companies, especially when cars have to be provided for both managerial and sale staff. __1__As a result, it's important to keep a close eye at the many costs __2__associated with company cars and how these different costs compare.
The moment a new car is driven away from the showroom, its value will drop as much as 12 percent. This is what is __3__known as depreciation and is the largest single cost to the buyer of a new vehicle. Depreciation is the highest in the __4__first two years of a vehicle's life: at the end of that period a car could be worth just the third of its brand new price. __5__Although the rate of depreciation decreases as time goes by, it remains a major cost factor, as around 85 percent
of company vehicles are brought brandly new. __6__However, it is important to know that some cars depreciate much more than others——regardless of price. This is often __7__to do with rarity and prestige value. The more common the car, the more quickly, in general, it loses vaule. Exported __8__models, which are restricted in number, can hold their value better than those are produced domestically and widely available. __9__In the same way, depreciation on a new model of a particular make may be low for the first few years after their launch. __10__This happened when diesel cars were first introduced. They depreciated more slowly when they were rarely seen; now that they are relatively common, this is no longer true.

Passage Five
In America, every student in his or her second year of high school is required to take a class in driver's education.

听力原文: In the past two years, millions of Americans have suddenly embraced the bicycle as if it were a startling new invention. Annual bike sales doubled between 1960 and 1970, and there are nearly 70 million bikes in the United States today. That's more than two for every three automobiles.
Of course, the bike has been around for more than 150 years, and this isn't America's first bicycle boom. A wave of bike enthusiasm swept the land in the late 1800s and bicycle production hit two million units in 1897. Then with the coming of the auto, bicycling declined, and for decades remained popular only with children and a few adult faddists.
Now, national preoccupation with air pollution and physical fitness has brought the bike back to the forefront—particularly with adults. More than eight million bikes were sold in the United States last year and a third of them went to adults. The year before, only 15 percent of new bike sales were for adults.

A.The use of bikes is a new invention in the U.S.
B.Annual bike sales doubled in the 60s in the U.S.

D.The number of bikes is two times that of cars in the U.S.

First, urban traffic is getting from bad to worse.I’d like to use my own experience as an example.Five years ago,it took me about 30 minutes to drive from home to office. One year later,I needed to spend about 40 minutes on the way. Then two years later,I had to start out from home at least an hour earlier in order to get to my office on time for work. And then, since last year,it has just been too normal for me to spend about one and a half hours to make it.The traffic moves just like a worm!
Second, with the ever-growing number of cars, air quality in urban areas is becoming worse over time.We used to see clear blue sky and breathe fresh air,but now this might be a real luxury.Car exhaust has seriously polluted the air and people’s health is greatly affected. It seems certain that we human beings have already made a fatal mistake that could only be corrected by greatly reducing the number of cars.
Though we can not deny the fact that cars have brought us speed, comfort and greater mobility, these have already been history. We are suffering much more from cars than benefiting from them. Our health conditions are going down rapidly due to both the polluted air that we have to breathe every second and our lack of exercise that results from the increasing amount of time we have to spend driving.
So what can we do? In my opinion,we have already found a solution: discourage people from using cars! We know very well that science and technology is also developing very fast and there might be better solutions coming up in the future, but, before that, let’s first save ourselves.
When did the author spend about 30 minutes to drive from home to office?
A.Two years ago.
B.Three years ago.
C.Four years ago.
D.Five years ago.
