听力原文: W: Excuse me, I'm wondering if you could tell me how to find a place I can have my shoes fixed. I'm new in town.
M: Well, of course, you can always look in the yellow pages in the back of the telephone book under "Shoe Repair". But I think there’s a good shop not far from here. Take the first street to the left and walk about three blocks. I can’t remember the name of the shop, but you'll find it. It’s near the police station. By the way, do you know about the "Town Guide" ? It has all kinds of useful information. I think you’ll find it in any book store.
W: Thanks a lot, you' ve been very helpful and I’ll look for that "Town Guide" the next time I'm in book store. Let’s see, you said the repair shop was three blocks on the right?
M: No, first street on the left then three blocks.
W: Thanks again.

A.The bookstore.
B.The telephone company.
C.A map of the town.

根据以下材料回答题
Some people make you feel comfortable when they are around. These people have somethingin common. And once we know what it is we can try to do it ourselves.
How is it done? Here are several skills that good talkers have.If you follow the skills, they&39; llhelp you put people at their ease, and make friends with them quickly.
First of all, good talkers ask questions.Almost anyone, no matter how shy he is, will answera question. And how he answers will let you know how far you can go.
Second, once good talkers have asked questions, they listen to the answers. And to find outwhat sort of person you are talking to, you really have to listen carefully and attentively.
Real listening at least means some things.First it means not to change the subject of the con-versation.Real listening also means not just listening to words but to tones of voice. If the voicesounds dull, then, it&39; s time for you to change the subject.
Finally, good talkers know well now to deal with the occasion of parting. If you want to seethat person again, don&39; t keep it a secret.Let people know what you feel, and they may walk awayfeeling as if they&39; ve known you half their life.
Asking questions might be a quite good and suitable way __________. 查看材料

The only solid piece of scientific truth about which I feel totally confident is that we are profoundly ignorant about nature. I regard this as the major discovery of the past hundred years of biology. It is, in its way, an illuminating piece of news. It would have amazed the brightest minds of the 18th century Enlightenment to be told by any of us how little we know and how bewildering seems the way ahead. It is this sudden confrontation with the depth and scope of ignorance that represents the most significant contribution of the 20th century science to the human intellect. In earlier times, we either pretended to understand how things worked or ignored the problem, or simply made up stories to fill the gaps. Now that we have begun exploring in earnest, we are getting glimpses of how huge the questions are, and how far they are from being answered. Because of this, we are depressed. It is not so bad being ignorant if you are totally ignorant; the hard thing is knowing in some detail the reality of ignorance, the worst spots and here and there the not-so-bad spots, but no true light at the end of the tunnel nor even any tunnels that can yet be trusted.
But we are making a beginning, and there ought to be some satisfaction. There are probably no questions we can think up that can't be answered, sooner or later, including even the matter of consciousness; to be sure, there may well be questions we can't think up, ever, and therefore limits to the reach of human intellect, but that is another matter. Within our limits, we should be able to work our way through to all our answers, if we keep at it long enough, and pay attention.
The author claims that good science ______.
A.defies prediction
B.should study the unknown
C.should discover scientific truth
D.should offer choices rather than prescribe

Passage Three
No one knows exactly how many disabled (残废的) people there are in the world, but estimates suggest the figure is over 450 million. The number of disabled people in India alone is probably more than double the total population of Canada.
In the United Kingdom, about one in ten people have some disability. Disability is not just something that happens to other people. As we get older, many of us will become less mobile (可动的), hard of hearing or have failing eyesight.
Disablement can take many forms and occur at any time of life. Some people are born with disabilities. Many others become disabled as they get older. There are many progressive disabling diseases. The longer time goes on, the worse they become. Some people are disabled in accidents. Many others may have a period of disability in the form. of a mental illness. All are affected by people's attitude towards them.
Disabled people face many physical barriers. Next time you go shopping or to work or visit friends, imagine how you would manage if you could not get up steps, or on to buses and trains. How would you cope if you could not see where you were going or could not hear the traffic? But there are other barriers: prejudice can be even harder to break down and ignorance inevitably represents by far the greatest barrier of all. It is almost impossible for the able-bodied to fully appreciate what the severely disabled go through, so it is important to draw attention to these barriers and show that it is the individual person and their ability, not their disability, which counts.
41. The first paragraph points out that ______.
A. it is possible to get an exact figure of the world's disabled people
B. there are many disabled people in the world
C. the number of disabled people in India is the greatest
D. India has not much more disabled people than Canada
